On November 24th 2020, we held our second event on Stakeholder Management: Stakeholder Mapping. Viet Make It would like to thank our guest speaker, Fleur de Wolf, for sharing her experiences and knowledge. We were excited to see our audience’s great engagement and enthusiasm in the Q&As and simulations.
In this event, we discussed two main topics: stakeholder management and influencing with integrity.
We started with the stakeholder concept: someone who has a view or is emotionally concerned about an idea or initiative you are promoting. For any ideas and projects, identifying the stakeholders and understanding their interests would be essential to apply the right stakeholder management strategy. Depending on their level of interest and influence, we would need to tailor our engagement approach accordingly.
Moving into the second part of the event, we discussed influencing with integrity and went through McKinsey’s different influencing styles and their application. Many participants shared their “eureka moment” when they recognized which techniques they used the most and what tactics they would want to apply more. Towards the end of the event, there were great questions on employing these influencing styles in a real negotiation. For this, Fleur kindly shared some reflections and learnings on her experiences when working with external stakeholders.
We were delighted to receive much positive and contributive feedback from our audience:
“Good to know the
“Today I have aha! moment with influencing styles”
“I’m not aware that I have been using the same style conversing with my stakeholders. I should diversify my approach more.”
“Structured sharing and information”
“Love to have more case studies”
